Corbin TBall

Corbin is playing t-ball for the dad's club now. It's quite a little adventure. 1 week in on practices and he is learning sooo much! I'm amazed at what he is able to learn in such a short period of time. It's 2 nights a week practice and games on Sunday. I didn't know if I would like Sunday games but I'm kind of excited about them. The only problem is that all his games at at 1. Meaning that nap time in the waddell house will be cut short or Non-existent. For Corbin it's not as big of a deal as it is for Garrett. Im interested to see how this goes. His team is A&M which is awesome bc it's easy to find aggie appearal around here ;). He is so so excited to play and I'm just as excited to watch. Here are a couple pictures from my iPad. Not great, but expect a longer post on Sunday after his first game and lots of pictures then!

Pinterest

Who knew that you could make entire weeks of only pinterest recipes? Honestly I was getting tired of all my same old meals that I cook. I mean you know those that you make when u can't think of anything more exciting to make. So, I started letting clynt choose some things he saw in pinterest and this week is pinterest week! Right now, there is bacon, Tater tot casserole in my crock pot. Of course I change everything up to give it my own spin and bc I simply do not follow recipes to a tea ever. So instead of chicken mine has pork and I put my own spices in it also. However I'm sure it will be delish! Im so excited to try to out :).

I also have an entire wardrobe on pinterest that I am trying to convince clynt to purchase for ! A trip to the galleria is definitely in my near future for new fall clothes!! For me and the boys, of course ;)

And then there are so many craft ideas on pinterest. I have a list of him decor things I am going to do and craft and toys to make with my boys.

The only problem?? I need TIME! Lol. The cooking thing is easy bc it does require additional time from me since I cook every night anyways but the rest of it requires my attention and I just dont have much of that to pass around:/. Soon enough though. And I guess that's the best thing about it, I can pin away and save for another da!

Yes, I have had pinterest for a long time but I just started doing stuff from it, hence the blog post!

Garrett

Garrett has pretty much been sick since he was 6 months old.  Then it was ear infections... and ear infections... and ear infections... Then we had tubes put in at 11 months.  Then at 13 months he began getting strep...and strep.... and strep... So after a couple months of lots of strep, the pediatrician recommended we take him to the ENT to talk about a tonsillectomy.  We go and are recommended to get them removed.  He told me about the possibilities of strep affecting the heart and kidneys and seemed to think that removing them would be the best bet.  He had good answers to all the questions I asked... BUT there were sooo many concerns with his age and the fact that he is small.  He told us that he would have to get approval from the cheif of TCH before doing the surgery... That made me very nervous, SO I called another ENT for a second opinion bc this is my baby your talking about I didnt want to have something done that had so many concerns if it wasnt necessary.  That ENT was very uncertain about all of this.  He was a pediatric ENT and had only ever done one tonsillectomy on a child of this age.  A lot of his main concerns was that Garrett is already so low on the growth charts and doesnt weigh enough to be able to withstand the recovery of the procedure.  The procedure is a harsh one for little kids and can dehydrate them very easy bc they are in so much pain it is hard to eat and drink.  So doing something like this on a child that doesnt have additional weight to loose could pose serious problems and he simply did not think that Garrett could handle it.  He left the room with me to call our pediatrician and they talked for a long time about the risks and benefits for him and decided that since the risks were so high for him that the did not out weigh the benefits.  However, he is going to be seen every 2-3 weeks to make sure that he does not have strep and when he does that it is being treated and the make sure that the treatments are working.  He is down to only a couple antibiotics that will work for him so this is exhausting his treatment plans.  In 2-3 months we go back to the ENT and hope that he is large enough at that point (if he still getting infections) to have it done.  Our pediatrician doesnt seem to think there is a very good chance of the infections just stopping, but if they do, we will be very glad and know that all of our prayers have worked.  If he is stilling needing it done at that point, doing a procedure like that is much easier on a larger 18  month old than on a tiny 14 month old. So for now, its a lot of doctors visits and a lot of prayers that he just gets rid of whatever is causing the infections so that we dont need to have any operation done on him.  Or maybe it can just be held off to him being at least 3 where the risks are lowered! =)

Anyways, thanks everyone for all the phone calls and prayers and thoughts.  It was a rough couple of days with us trying to figure out what we thought the best option was for him bc of 2 completely different recommendations.  I so glad our pediatrician is amazing and called me personally at 6:30 last night and talked to me for 20 minutes on her thoughts and showed sooo much care for Garrett.  She explained how rare this is in such a young baby and how she has never seen a baby his age with strep so much, but that she was going to do everything she could to make sure his heart doesnt get infected and that when we have to have the surgery done that it will be when he is going to be able to handle it.

Corbin's first day of School

Im way behind on here but we'll see if now that Corbin is in school I can get some stuff done.  Corbin is in Pre-K 3 at St. Helen's Catholic School.  Corbin was in need of a little structure and so we felt as though a full on Pre-K program would be best for him.  He goes 2 days a week which is plenty for now.  Maybe next year we will move up to 3 days.  He only went once this week because Monday was open house, and next week will be the same because Monday is a holiday.. so we are easing in.  The teacher said he did wonderful his first day other than not napping (he does nap but the school naps a lot earlier than he is used to). I was in line to pick him up very early becasue I was so anxious to see him.. and the feeling was mutual.  I love that little guy.  Here are a couple pictures of him on his first day!

We gave his teacher a starbucks gift card and a bag of organic dried apples from starbucks (bc this mom forgot to buy an apple!)   She seemed to like them =)
He was a little nervous to be left but he did great.  When I picked up he went on and on about loving school, so it made me very happy.  He loved his new friends and all the people he met.  It made me realize why Im doing this.  Opposite of Corbin, I had a terrible day.  I was worried sick and cried off and on all day at the thought of my baby being away from me.  So him loving it made me feel like it was worth it.   I love my boy!!

update-age

Garrett is now 13 months old and as rambunctious as ever.  He has a little vocabulary that seems to get better every week.  Its amazing at everything he knows at such a young age.  He follows Corbin around ALL the time.  I feel bad for Corbin bc he can never get away!  Poor thing.  Corbin wants to wrestle with Garrett ALL the time also, and Garrett laughs and laughs and laughs, until, BAM, he gets hurt.  Corbin can't wait (and neither can Garrett for that matter), for Garrett to be 2 or 3 and be able to play a little more rough and tough.

The past few weeks have been full of rain, rain, and more rain!  So, we have done lots of actiivities and LOTS of playing in the rain.  Many, many muddy clothes, and lots of laundry made for an exciting couple of weeks.  So glad that we could play outside today with a little reprieve from rain.  Though, the boys were very much enjoying the time in the rain! =)

Our big summer vacation is coming up.  Im semi freaking out, but it should be fine!  Corbin and Clynt and riding with my dad and brother for a road trip up to Minnesota.  They are driving to Pine Bluff, Ak which is where Clynt was born.  And the the next day going to St. Louis and going to the top of the arch, and the going to a Cardinals game at Busch stadium.  Following that they are going to Iowa for a night.  And then up to Mancato, Mn to watch the Minn Vikings training camp for a couple days and then they are headed up to my grandma's lake house in Northern Minnesota where they will meet Garrett, my mom, and I who will have flown up a couple days earlier.  My grandma has rented a boat for us and we will get to hang out on the lake for over a week, and then the boys, clynt, and I will all fly home. =)  Sounds fun, huh??  Only dilemma?   Ive never been away from Corbin for more than a day.  SOOOOO... I am FREAKING out about him driving across the country for 4-5 days without me!  =(   Its going to be great memories for him though, and I soooo want that for him.

Any who, life here is great, and now that my wireless internet is working, maybe ill actually blog a little more =)  High hope!

trials...

Some days, months, and years can be hard.  God never promised us that life would never have trials though.  So, we push through and do our best and try to honor Him as best we can.   =)

Yesterday was one if those days for us and suprisingly enough, we laughed and joked the whole way through it.  I mean, lets face it, regardless of what happens, we are blessed.  Clynt has a good job, we have amazing kids, we have family that loves us, and we are all healthy (well as far as major health is concerned!).

So here goes by crazy, but laughable day..  We wake up to our cleaning company being here, which means I rush to get the kids dressed, Corbin was still sleeping so getting him up and dressed was a chore to say the least.  We get out of the house, go get some bread and head to feed the ducks.  We feed the ducks, play at park and things are going fabulous. We decide to go to the galleria area and pick Clynt up to go to have lunch. We get there way to early, so I get the kids out and we feed some more ducks that are standing next to my car because there is a lake in front of Clynt's building.   I then let the kids sit in the front seat with me while we wait a little while on Clynt.  All of a sudden my car felt like it was going to shut of for a couple seconds and then it seemed normal, so we continued sitting there.  About 2 minutes later, smoke starts bellowing out of my car.  I was convinced that my car was going to blow up, so I turn it off, and get the kids out of it and walk away from it.  I really had no idea what was going on.  Clynt comes out of the building and there is antifreeze ALL over the ground so he looks at it, and decides to drive it to Chick-Fil-A and then we called a tow truck.  The tow truck comes out and tows my car to a little shop near my house.  My wonderful husband took the rest of the day off so that I didnt have to take his truck and then go back up there to pick him up. =)  That was amazing and so worth the whole day.

A few minutes after we get home, I had to take Garrett for a follow up on his ears.  I REALLY thought that they were cleared up bc he seemed to be acting great.  Wrong.  2 weeks ago, it was only one ear and now it was both, and he got it while on antibiotics.  So now we are a second round for this infection and we have to see an ENT for tubes.  We semi-expected him needing tubes becasue the infections are constant, but we REALLY thought we had another month or two.  But no, she wants them done ASAP.

We come home,  and I have to turn around a few minutes later to go to a photo session.  It was super cloudy and dark, so I was using my flash.  The batteries die on it, and I go to get more and realize Corbin had taken them all out of my camera bag.  sigh.  They all worked out, my flash just regenerated VERY slow and it was irritating.  At least I got to see Garrett's little girlfriend. =)

Anyway, we get a call on my car and it was something we totally weren't expecting.  They wanted a fortune to fix it, and clynt could the part for just a few hundred dollars, so we picked the car up and he is fixing it (ideally).  Clynt always works on our cars, so this was no surprise.  We dont know yet what the surgery will cost us but Im sure it wont be too bad bc we have already met Garrett's deductible. So, I dont think it is going to all turn out as crazy as originally expected.  But as you all know, we are doing a million things to our house right now, so none of this was added to our budget currently, so it was a bit unexpected and really unwelcome but it came anyways, so we deal.

We really laughed about my car bc I really thought it was going to blow up all day.   and we are still making jokes about it today.  It was funny.  I love my life and wouldn't change anything.  Sometimes trials are necessary to put us back into perspective. =)

Garrett sick... again!

Poor Garrett has yet another ear infection.  This is the last one he is able to have without getting tubes. If it doesnt go away in a timely manner or if it comes back, we have to go for tubes...  I hate having him on antibiotics, and I really dread the thought of him getting tubes.  I am a very natural thinker (and so is clynt)... Our bodies are designed to handle problems and when allow our body to do that, it makes our bodies stronger.  I dont rush my kids to the doctor at the first sign of a fever or anything.  Just not me.  I try to let things run their course.  However, in this situation, the course is kind of, for a lack of a better word, bumpy. When Garrett gets ear infections, they are severe.  This time he was running 103 fever and vomiting after meals for several days. Its crazy.  He is miserable and I dont want to see him like that.  So, should it happen again, its tubes for the little guy.

The other sad part of Garrett being sick is that I am stuck inside the house with Corbin. Corbin gets bored and starts misbehaving as he struggles to get attention.  Garrett is so clingy that I cant get in just a little time to spend only with Corbin.  So, its hard.  Im praying that as Garrett wakes up today, he is fever free and we can get out of the house.  We all have cabin fever.

Though!  Last night we left the house for Corbin's first 'real' tball game!!  It was the cutest thing ever!!!  We really thought that it was going to be terrible, but it was absolutely one of the cutest things I have ever seen.  Corbin can hit the ball really well for his age and he never swings and misses.  It is so cute!! And then he runs to each of the bases (with a little guidance on which way to go).  Then when he is playing second, he (and the whole team) run after every single ball thats hit in an effort to be the one who gets to throw hit.  As he runs, he has the hugest grin on his face.  OMG, my heart could melt!!  It was absolutely the most enjoyable time that I have had in a long time.  He only has 2 games (the other 6 weeks were learning the basics), so if you want to come and watch next Tuesday, let me know.  You wont be disappointed you came.  SO.  MUCH.. FUN!!

Anyways.  My boys are amazing.  The. end. =)
